Welcome abord John!
We’ve just released a new plugin by Timothy Armes that will be of great interest to anyone who needs to upload images directly to an FTP server via Lightroom.
Although this plugin will function in Lightroom 2, users of Lightroom 3 will gain the most benefit since FTP Publisher makes use of the new Publish Services. This allows users to create a collection hierarchy containing images that need to be uploaded and synchronised with a server. Lightroom remembers which images have been modified or removed from the collections and will apply these changes to the server when you ask it to do so.
The plugin is donationware.
We’ve just released another new plugin – Keyboard Tamer.
Keyboard Tamer is a plugin for Lightroom 3 that allows you to redefine most of Lightroom’s keyboard shortcuts, and to create new shortcuts for functions that don’t yet have them.
This plugin will be invaluable for those who wish to streamline their workflow and make Lightroom work for them.
It’s also a must for those who use Lightroom in a language that’s different to the expected one for their keyboard layout. For example, those who run Lightroom in English on a machine with a non-U.S. keyboard will normally find that many of the shortcuts are inaccessible – with this plugin they can be redefined.
Keyword Master v1.20 now has a search bar…
Type in a search term and have all the web pages open directly with the search requested! This is another great time saver.
This is rapidly becoming a favourite Lightroom plugin.
Update: version 1.10 of Keyword Master is now compatible with Lightroom 2. This post has been updated accordingly.
Keywording is a very important practice for photographers who sell their images on line; images that can’t be found are images that won’t sell.
Even those who sell photographic services gain from good keywording since it increases the likelyhood that clients will find their portfolios, and thus their web sites.
The problem with keywording is that it’s a long and laborious process. It’s hard to think of keywords, and it’s time consuming to type them in.
My new plugin – Keyword Master – helps to relieve these issues by providing photographers with a tool to help them gather or harvest keywords from other sources.
I’ve just released a new web engine for Lightroom 2 and later.
Jigasawrus is designed for photographers who wish to present a large number of images on a single web page (see the demonstration gallery). The images fit together in a jigsaw like fashion and rearrange themselves as the browser changes size. It’s fun
Clicking on an image displays it at a larger size.
Emotion. That’s what my brand new web engine for Lightroom is all about.
When casually browsing the work of other photographers on the web I’ve long noted that my biggest emotional response to a collection of images is often provoked by two things:
Impact creates web galleries that are designed to provoke such a response from your viewers. It’s all about the image.
Impact scales each image to fill the width of the browser window so that your visitors will be treated to a “wow” experience that will help to separate your work from the crowd. Moreover, the slideshow and the transitions are handled using Javascript so your site will be visible on devices that don’t support Flash, such as the iPhone and iPad.
Impact won’t be right for everyone. The nature of this sort of gallery means that images get cropped by the browser window – landscape format images will be more appropriate than portrait format. However, in terms of delivering a powerful message about your work I believe that an Impact powered gallery will be a powerful asset, whether used alone or in combination with a gallery such as Elegance.
Update: Version 1.10 of Impact now includes lots of scaling options, including the ability to scale each image to fill the window without cropping it.
Peter Karlsson has graciously allowed me to use his spectacular avionics images to produce a demonstration gallery.
Here are the goodies:
Impact is available from the Photographer’s Toolbox.
We’ve just finished some screencasts, giving a tour of our PLUS for Lightroom plug-in for professional photographers.
We’ve released version 4.00 of LR2/Mogrify. It adds a few things that people have been asking for:
